Hi guys i have a question... today i was working on a page, i had to make a scrolldiv for some text. i was changing the width and the height for that one page, something i have done many times, everything seemed to work well. But then suddenly things got all mixed up on alll my other pages. The positions of many divs got put into different places, many (not all) the divs have been put into different places. i cant make any sense out of it...i know that if we change the settings of a spry divtag it can change in another pages as well if its the same div. but how can 7 or 8 divs just be relocated when they are not the same divtag that i was editing??? why the positioning? i can remember deleting the positioning of the div i was editing in css i think in the positioning tab in the top field it said 1050 or something and i deleted that, other then that i only changed the width and height. any ideas anyone?? i already tried to change the positioning of the div i was editing back to 1050 but nothing changed on the other pages... i cant figure this one out. The dispositioning is only on the computer that i am working with...so the pages still look good on other computers, but wtihin dreamweaver and also in my web browser that i am working with it is all out of wack! i would love to see everything just magicaly fall back into place by making a simple adjustment, i think its possible, only who has the magic formula?? apreciate any feedback on this, thanks....

I don't think there are any spells that can bring your jumbled page back from the brink the way you would like. What you explain sounds more to me like a file corruption than a simple "oops, I put a > where it didn't belong" sort of situation.

The easiest way to fix it will likely be to copy a page from your site that does work, and transfer the info from your broken page onto it, then overwrite the broken page by saving it with the same name.

Thanks Jon, i tried overwriting the page that caused the problem, and turned it back to its old state. but, no magic...probably the css just got saved on the other pages and needs to be changed somewhere there. I lost the page that caused the problem by bringing it back to its old state so i cant fix it from there anymore. Its probably better to just to adjust all the pages that got mixed up and put everyting back to its old position. its anoying because i put a lot of time in it, but hey whats new...strory of my dreamweaver life. Its ok...

    who has the magic formula??

Back in the early days, even before Spry, I often came across the same problem. I would change just one little character and the whole site would fall ino disarray.

My magic formula? Delete the whole site and start over using modern coding techniques.

Go to https://www.w3schools.com/ and start off with the first two topics as in

thanks ben, but im looking for a dreamweaver solution. i have been working with that dreamweaver cs3 for 10 years without problems, so i am sattisfied with that program, starting from scratch is not an option now. my website consists out of hundreds of pages, also just found out the problem is not on all the pages, i recently made an update (new layout) and was busy implementing the the new update on an older page. so what i did was drag and drop all the divtags from the old layout to the new one...maybe something went wrong there.

I am sory, I stand by what I have said.

When I read tht you have been dragging and dropping elements, that is the precise problem that those versions of Dreamweaver had. More recent versions of Dreamweaver dropped (no pun intended) the ability to drag and drop because it always messed things up.

It is up to you what you want to do. If you want  more precise answer to the problem, please supply a link to the online site, in particular to the problem page.
