Question

Search engine friendly URL's using PHP

When using content management systems such as Joomla, Drupal or Wordpress, you have the possibility to create so called search engine friendly url's on your website. So instead of having something like message.pgp?id=10, it gives you something like yourdomain.com/message10.

Now I was wondering, if you do not use a CMS like the ones mentionned above, how can you create these kind of links?

There is nothing wrong with using index.php?page=10.

Google 'Pleysier Web Solutions offer low priced domain name registrations' and you will see several results with index.php?mod=

I know it is just a matter of taste. But nonetheless, I did some research on Google and from that, I read something about changing the .htaccess file but so far, no luck in making the changes.

I don't really understand? Can't you rename the pages yourself later or are you looking for an automated solution? How do you want them automated?

What MMORPG uses the kind of page formatting you are talking about, correct?  Contrary to the above poster, I would make sure you have the clean page names. It will help Google and Bing find your webpage better.
