Question

Server Side Includes in Dreamweaver CC

Dreamweaver used to have an option for server side includes in the Insert dropdown and in the side panel. It appears to be gone. Any idea if Dreamweaver no longer supports server side includes / .shtml files? Where to find this insert > server side include option? Thanks.

I put SSIs into my custom Snippets folder.  You can also add trigger keys for quicker insertion into documents from your keyboard.

I'm not sure about .shtml includes, I haven't used them in a very long time, but with PHP includes the Insert option for it only appears in the Insert menu while working within a .php page as shown below, first in a .html file, then in a .php file...

Hi Jon. Thanks for the quick reply. I learned something new! I didn't know about the secondary menu under custom favorites. However I still don't see a solution to the html server side issue. I know shtml has been around for a while and is not the new shiny object, but I've found shtml pages to be quick and reliable, and would like to continue with them. Perhaps Adobe/Dreamweaver will reinstate. Hand-coding for now.

You could use the Submit Bug/Feature Request option under DW's Help menu to put the idea to a vote in a place the Dev guys spend time.

If enough people join in and upvote the idea, it could make it into a future version.
