Wow. Not sure why this comment was made.

I have many pictures of our family and descriptions of events on these many pages. This project is not just a data base of some sort. It is a genealogy project that describes civil war events involving my great grandfather. It tells stories and shows pictures of my grandfather and his work in the cotton mills. It shows pictures of my brother and his athletic accomplishments. There are vacations our family took and videos of parties. There are pages of our 50th wedding anniversary celebration. There is so much that I cannot take the time telling you all that is in this project. It is fabulous by the way. It is something our children and grandchildren might someday enjoy.

Oh yes, and there a about six mysterious files that show up as orphans in a list when they do not even exist. I want to know why this occurs, but it seems like no one knows. I want to get rid of them if it is possible, but it does not look like that will happen.

The only reference i can find to the virus, was from 2004, and the links were only uploaded to the site during an ftp upload to server. If your site is only for off-line use via cd then i would not worry about the problem, as no links would be uploaded plus the fix for the problem involved the removal of Dw from your computer, and a complete clean of anything related to the instalation, including all extensions and any system references such as registry entries. Then a reinstall.

As your installation was via download the re-installation would require a re-download, and as CS4 is no longer supported it would also require a different download process, to that previously used.

I know the broken files present a problem, and you could try deleting the user cache file, as described in this article -

The other item to do, is using the windows file explorer, select the sites folder, then do a search of the entire folder for each of the links.

Just to add I'm not certain if the 'virus' could actually be called a 'virus'. As all it appears to have done is add unwanted links to a page, and was not malicious.

They may be showing as broken links, simply because the pages no longer exist on the web.

    Hi,

Just because you delete a file from your hard drive doesn’t mean the file is deleted from the server where you host your website. Make sure you remove files from both the Remote Site window in the Files panel as well as the Local Site panel.

After that, it should not show files that are not existent. Hope this helps.

When files show in the orphan's list, it also shows the name of the document where the link resides. Could you please show the code of one of those documents so that we can see what is going wrong.
