Sitewide Update of Template

I've been making modifications to my website by copying my DWT under a new name and modifying it, saving a few existing pages under a new name, and linking them to the new DWT for testing.  I am now ready to go sitewide and publish.  What is the best way to do this?  Do I have to save the new DWT contents into the existing DWT then update all files (which is OK with me), or is there a way to get all the HTML files to point to the new DWT for update?  Thanks.

    There's no shortcut.

    1. Replace original template.dwt with new one.

    2. Populate changes to child pages.

    3. Re-upload all child pages to server.

For future consideration, you might want to switch to a server-side approach which is vastly more efficient than DW's proprietary templates. And all the magic happens on the server which is a huge time saver even on small sites.

My web hosting plan supports PHP code so I use PHP includes.

Yep, that's what I thought, Nancy.  And I know you are a proponent of server-side; but I am not prepared to do that now as the owners of the website are planning on converting the whole thing to Drupal, so I'm not going to invest in interim changes.  Thanks for clarifying the proper method though.

Your new Drupal site will have a CMS that's PHP & MySQL driven.  When that's in place, I'm sure you'll find it's way more efficient than static templates.  🙂
