Slideshow help needed

Very Amateur Dreamweaver user and I don’t remember what I had for breakfast because im an OLD F@*& !

I built a site, My only site in 2003 that had a slideshow on the opening page done in Flash.

It had about 10 images that opened at different times over lapping images that faded in and out.

When Flash was killed my slide show died.

I want to replace the slide show but don’t know how to do it or what to use?

Can it all be done in dreamweaver now?

Also the easiest way possible because im a very slow learner and OLD.

Getting and being old sucks, but I guess it's better than being dead…. Maybe.

New slideshows won’t behave the same as your old one because Flash is dead.

You can see a working demo of Bootstrap 5 Carousel below. Maximize your browser window & hide your browser toolbars with F11. This works well on all devices -- phones, tablets & desktops.

That seems like a giant step backwards but I guess I have no choice. A loop of images is better than no images at all.

You have many choices: purchase a 3rd party slideshow, or create a custom coded one yourself.

In the grand scheme of things, slideshows are just window dressing. They’re not essential to the visitor experience because the only people who care about them are site owners.

Yes, it can be done without Flash now.

Flash is gone, so the replacement should be built with standard HTML, CSS and JavaScript. You do not need Flash for this anymore.

If you are using a recent version of Dreamweaver, one possible easy starting point is the Bootstrap Carousel component. Dreamweaver can help you insert and edit Bootstrap-based page elements, and a carousel can display a group of images with transitions.

However, the best answer depends on your Dreamweaver version.

Could you tell us which version of Dreamweaver you are using?

Also, do you want the new slideshow to behave like the old Flash one, with images fading in and overlapping each other, or would a simpler slideshow with one image fading into the next be acceptable?

The second option will be much easier to build and maintain.

So im going to be using Dreamweaver 21.8

Let me explain what I had, better.

These were small images, They fit into this white area of the window at www.bradhitz.com with space around them.

Images would fade into the window centered, for like 2 or 3 seconds then fade out and the next would fade in. I also had a few where 2 images showed, the left one would fade in then the right one would fade in and they then would both fade out and 1 image centered would fade in after. the timing was critical so not to be to long and bypassed . Flash gave you control over this. It was about 10 images or less in total. Then would loop.

It was also easy to change images out when I wanted.

It’s old school, way out dated, but its all I need at this stage, just to keep it up for a look back.
