Still no automatic upload of CSS file created from LESS?

I was happy to see Dreamweaver started to let us use an internal preprocessor. We use less on our sites.

Unfortunately when we only have a live site configured the generated CSS file is not auto-uploaded to the server. We have to also specify a test server in order for this to work. That's to bad, because we only want to set up a live server in most cases. We could have a discussion about whether we should or not, but I would only like to find out if this is an issue for others to and if maybe we have missed some option to get this working in our preferred setup (only live site).

If this is not possible, how can we ask Adobe to make this possible?

Yes I noticed that ;-)

Having to define two indentical servers that are in fact identical just to make the automatic upload possible still seems a bit strange. If we do this and the settings change we always need to change settings for both servers.

It's not a big issue, but I just don't understand why it's not possible to make this work with only one server defined.

I'm also not sure if there might be other downsides to defining two identical servers for one site. When saving files, will Dreamweaver select one of the server to upload the files to? Or do we need to connect to the one we ant to use? Does it even matter when they are the same?

I just feels a bit strange...

It's the way that I have always set up the site, mainly to upload files that are unique to the server as in database connection. At the moment I use DMXzone extensions that have the same requirement. When configuring the database connection for the remote, I make the testing server the same as the remote. This is required just once per project. After that I work primarily in a local testing server.

I use this method just to satisfy Dreamweaver, but, having said that, theoretically there should be no need for the remote server if you designate the testing server to be on the remote. It may be worthwhile trialling, just remove the remote setup.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your reply. I knew copying  the live server and use it as test server did the trick, but to me this seems a workaroud that should not be needed. I hope the guys at Adobe will make it possible to just define only a test server and make the css upload possible on that.

In versions up to and including CS6, there was just the one liner. The current versions require two lines.

The following is CS6
