Question

Testing server: Where is the Inetpub folder?

Hi,

I have been looking at the Testing server page in the 'getting started' section of Dreamweaver 8. I have installed IIS (I have XP Professional) and in order to test the server it says I need to save a basic html file in the Inetpub\wwwroot folder on the hard disk. I have looked and there is no folder called that. If I just create a folder and name it that will it still work? All the information I have read seems to say there should already be one there, could there have been a problem setting up the IIS?

Greatful for any help.

Hi JoJo,

You need to install IIS.

Make sure you have your Win XP Pro disk in the drive and do the following:

Open Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components >
Additional Components > Internet Information Services (IIS)

Hope this helps
Regards
nath.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. If only it was that easy, I have already installed IIS and I still can't find the wwwroot folder anywhere on my computer.
I have just looked at the Windows Components Wizard again and the IIS check box is shaded meaning that only part of the component will be installed. Could this be my problem and if so how can I fix it?
