Question

Transfer Dreamweaver (or similar program) to new computer

I created two websites using Dreamweaver CS5.  I cannot transfer it to my new computer.  Adobe help has been entirely unsatisfactory.  Is there a substitute program that I can use to service my websites?

    @kaye26873382z1e3,

    Software cannot be copied from old machine to new machine.  The installation routine is required.

    @Ben M is right.  Nobody should be using obsolete, unsupported web authoring that's 12 years out of date.  Do yourself a favor and get new software. 😉

    That said, assuming you have all the following, there is nothing precluding you from installing legacy CS5 & activating it on your 2nd machine:

    1. A valid license & serial # for CS5 and, if it was an upgrade, the qualifying product's serial number.

    2. Your original installation disks/downloads that you received at purchase.

    3. An older supporting computer and OS that's compatible with legacy 32-bit software.

    4. Remaining activations.  If your activation count has been exceeded, ask Adobe support to reset it for you.

    Failing 1 - 3 above, you need to find a new code editor:

    CODE EDITORS:
    -- Adobe Dreamweaver CC - https://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver.html
    -- Codespaces (free, browser-based) - https://github.com/features/codespaces
    -- Nova (Mac only, formerly called Coda) - https://nova.app/
    -- Pinegrow - https://pinegrow.com/
    -- Sublime Text - http://www.sublimetext.com/
    -- Visual Studio Code (free) - https://code.visualstudio.com/
    -- Wappler ~ Visual Web App Builder - https://wappler.io/
    ============
    ONLINE SITE BUILDERS:
    -- Squarespace - https://www.squarespace.com/
    -- Webflow - https://webflow.com
    -- Wix - https://www.wix.com/
    -- WordPress (open source) - https://wordpress.org/

    Hope that helps.

    Dreamweaver CS5 will not run on most newer computers. You can choose to upgrade to the latest CC version or look to other editors like Wappler or Nova, or you can go to more of a hosted solution like Webflow or Wix.  Since you haven't upgraded in quite awhile (12 years since CS5), it's hard to say whether moving to a new development tool is the best bet or moving to a hosted solution may be a better alternative.
