Transferring Facebook post content to portfolio website

If someone has been using only Facebook as a portfolio website (art works, for example), how do you go about transferring content from posts in Facebook to the new website? There is the issue of duplicate content and the last thing you want to do is "upgrade" a client by selling them a website which lowers their SEO ranking by having duplicate content.

There is also the issue of the Facebook page being indexed higher because it has been around longer.

In short, is the best policy just to rewrite (i.e. re-phrase or re-word) the content for the website and hope for the best? I am seeing lots of contradictory stuff online regarding this issue.
