Trying to Authorize DW5 and my serial number isn't accepted.

Yes, I know it's old software, but it's what I paid for and it works fine for me. I'm trying to install DW5 on new computer and my current serial number won't work. Then I downloaded the DW5 install file from my Adobe account and it still will not work. After contacting Adobe support, they told me to post here.

are you talking about DW CS5 ?...  don't you have access to Homesite on the CD-Rom ?

  • Dreamweaver 5 or Creative Suite 5?
  • Which operating system do you have?
  • Was this purchased as an upgrade version or a full scale version?
  • What is the exact error message that you're seeing?

Suffice it to say that legacy 32-bit software cannot be installed on Catalina or Big Sur.

Sorry, CS5. I'm using W10. It is an upgrade from GoLive. Neither the DW code or GL code (when prompted to input that) would work. I can't access that system now, but I believe the error was "invalid code".

From whom did you buy the software?   Unfortunately, there's not much you can do if your license was revoked.  Before Creative Cloud, some bad actors played fast & loose with volume licensed copies and got into a whole heap of trouble for it.

Contact Adobe support and ask them to reset your activation count.  That's literally all they can do to help though, as CS is discontinued & unsupported.
