I updated my template page in Dreamweaver CS6. How can I update all my website's webpages based on the edit I made to the template? All the pages are based on the template.

Dreamweaver's .DWT Template files are not used by your remote server. They are only used within DW to modify the Child Page(s) created from the .DWT. When you make an update in dw, uploading the .DWT to your server won't do anything. You need to upload each individual Child page to the server to update your live site.

If you are looking for a workflow where you modify and upload one file, and every page in your site automatically changes, you would need to look into using Server Side Includes.

  1. Save Template .dwt file (Ctrl/Cmd + S).
  2. DW will prompt you to Update Child Pages. Dreamweaver displays a log indicating which child pages were updated.
  3. Upload each child page to your remote server.
  4. To see changes, refresh your browser with Ctrl + F5 or Ctrl + R.

Hope that helps.

Dreamweaver should prompt you to update the pages based on the modified template. Click Update to apply the changes to all documents that use the template.

Having said that, be aware that the Dreamweaver templating engine can only be used in Dreamweaver. With Dreamweaver being in limp-mode, you may want to consider an alternative like Custom Elements.
