Using Dreamweaver 21.3 (Creative Cloud) With a Windows 11 MSI Computer

I am an entrepreneur running multiple global businesses from a high end Windows 11 MSI GE75 Raider "gaming computer" (I never do gaming). I write and edit a travel newsletter with Dw, and at times when I highlight a line (like a headline from a table of contents) to move it to the actual story, the appearance of copy gets weird for several seconds.  Is this an issue because Dw is not fully compatible yet with Windows 11, or is it some other issue I should address? It is not an issue that disables productivity, it's just annoying. And since I have continuous rough deadlines I don't like interruptions, even brief ones. Thanks! --JMBCOMMS

Hi, Jeff -- I get what you mean. When you copy/paste from a website, some formatting gets copied (font size, color, etc.). What Nancy mentioned works like a charm, and is probably the most efficient way.  Another way is to open Notepad (remember that program?) > Copy your text > Paste into Notepad. Then, select and copy all the text in Notepad > Paste into DW.  Notepad will strip away all the formatting and leave you with nice, clean, plain text.  Either way will do the trick.  Let us know how it goes.

True enough.  Any plain text editor (NoteTab, Notepad+, textmate, etc...) will yield squeaky clean text. But this could be overkill when working with paragraphs, tables or lists as they will be removed as well.

I don't know what "gets weird" means.  If you're pasting formatted content directly from MS Word, the resulting junk code is the bane of every developer and most likely confusing your HTML code editor.

1. Switch from LIVE view to DESIGN view (Ctrl + Shift + F11).

2. Use Edit > Paste Special to remove MS Word formatting.

For best results, Paste As Text only or Text with structure (paragraphs, lists, tables...).

3. Ctrl + S to Save.

4. Validate code and fix reported errors.  Window > Results > Validation.  Click the triangle to check document.

Hope that helps.
