Question

Very strange Dreamweaver FTP behavior.

Whenever i want to connect to FTP in dreamweaver on my Dektop Mac Studio M4 Max it doesn't work. Just hangs and keeps trying.

So the weird solution is:

I have to open my wifes Mac Air, sign with the same FTP details on Filezilla and it connects on the spot. Then i return to my Desktop Mac studio, try again to connect FTP in Dreamweaver and it connects directly without any problem ....

Then after a while it disconnects and again without Ftp on my Desktop. So i open the Macbook air from my wife again, connect to the same FTP details in Filezilla and after that i can connect again on dreamweaver on my computer.

I have contacted my ISP but they doen't get why it behaves that way. Why can i only connect FTP on Dreamweaver on my desktop when i connect with the same FTP on Filezilla on my wifes laptop ....

Any idea why?

What happens if you connect with your Mac studio with Filezilla? Does it connect immediately or is it experiencing issues? If your desktop is experiencing issues with Filezilla, it may be an issue with a firewall or something that needs to be dived into further with your desktop. If your desktop is connecting fine with Filezilla regardless of your wife's computer, then the issue is DW. If that is the case you could go to Site -> Advanced -> FTP log and view the log the next time you transfer to see if any errors are generated while attempting to connect.

OK, so i did the test, my Mac Studio, Firewall turned off so we can rule that out.

1. First attempt with filezilla: nothing

First attempt with dreamweaver: nothing

2. Second attempt with filezilla: nothing

Second attempt with dreamweaver: nothing

3. Third attempt with filezilla: succes

Third attempt with dreamweaver: succes

After 5 minutes, disconected and cant get in anymore. So i go to my wifes Mac Air, Filezilla connects on the spot, go back to Dreamweaver on my Mac Studio and works on the spot .... I rececreated this 3 times, her firewall is on and no filezilla incoming connections allowed in the firewall ...

Attached the FTP logs.

See screenshot from Manage Sites:

In this example, I'm calling the host server's IP address rather than a hostname.

Toggle settings under More Options.

Hit the TEST button to confirm if you're able to connect.
