Want to create a blog where others can contribute

hello...

hoping to create a blog, whereby...as the creator of said blog...I write commentaries (in this case, critiques on concerts I attend)...but then others can subscribe & make their own comments.

I am fairly familiar w/ Dreamweaver (using 21.1); & was wondering if there are starter templates out there on the web I can use to create such a blog. [I know enough about coding to make basic edits, but not enough to code an entire site...hence the template question].

thanx,

mwf

[btw...tried a responsive blog template in dreamweaver, which didn't seem to provide for blog input from others]

Templates don't build web apps, people do.  Dreamweaver is not a platform.  It's a code editing and site management tool.  What you do with Dreamweaver depends on your skills as a programmer and developer.

You could certainly build a custom blog with Dreamweaver.  But why would you?  With so many free & low cost solutions already available, why reinvent the wheel?

Maybe as a challenge, it's often quite satisfying to be able to do something for yourself..........oh no forgot we don't do that now days do we, we require somebody else with the brains and skills to do it for us minion/dummies.

It all comes down to risk vs reward, I guess.  How much time & money are you willing to throw at this?

Teams of experts have spent years already on R&D to build, test and improve their secure blogging systems.   Realistically, I can't compete with that unless the stakeholder happens to be Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos.

But have at it.  And happy coding to you! 🙂

Yes, I suggest you as @BenPleysier did, to run with Wordpress.

two mains reasons for that choice,

first, getting comments in and out, will need you to rely on a database, and in so, you will have to handle all the PHP (or JSON Node) needed for that purpose, none of the DW templates will provide it... (DW template, are generally flat HTML templates)...

and second, comments in and out, are not the only dynamic mecanism that you will need on the run (stars rating systeme, filtering articles by categories, search articles in within the all web site, keywords cloud, and so on...)

so running with Wordpress, will help you a lot to handle all the classes needed for such a web site. And for sure, DW will help you to adapt and customize your Wordpress installation, and Template.

if you decide to follow this advice, let us know and we could provide you some more links, or tips to start using Wordpress and Wordpess Template.

Have a look at using WordPress.

Not that I would use it, I would build my own from scratch.

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!
