WebP for Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver is a great product and I've been using it for years. I sure hope Adobe doesn't do something stupid like discontinue it.  Anyway, Dreamweaver needs to embrace the WebP image format so it is prominently displayed and you don't have to dig for it.  BTY, Photoshop is older than Dreamweaver and nobody want's to discontinue it!

😕😕  Dreamweaver ALREADY supports WebP files.

Use them the same as you would any other web image — JPG, PNG, GIF or SVG file.

1. Go to Insert > Image.

2. Browse to desired image file and hit OK.  See screenshots.

For best results, toggle from DESIGN to LIVE View with Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + F11.

Incidentally, Dreamweaver no longer accepts feature requests.  No new features have been planned since fall of 2020 when Dreamweaver was moved from active development to minimal maintenance status.

If you have doubts or concerns about using Dreamweaver, I suggest you compare it with other code editors that are in active development. Decide for yourself if it's meeting all your needs.   For more details, see this related topic.

Hope that helps.

@nolcon

to report bugs or ideas or wishes to adobe:

for applicable apps, use https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/x-productkb/global/how-to-user-voice.html

for others, use https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

if neither show a place to report the issue, just leave it here.  that's the best you can do.

Dreamweaver's uservoice portal has been discontinued.

It has also been removed from the Wish Form's select list.

The program truly is on life support. Pretty much the only thing Adobe has updated in DW over the last couple years are a few of the back end, third-party libraries/functionalities that they bolted onto it.

Photoshop on the design side has always been their bread and butter so it's not a fair comparison. But to answer your question, DW is in minimal maintenance mode, so these types of updates will only happen out of necessity if they are forced to.
