Where can I get access to the remote files in DW2017

I just installed Dreamweaver in a new computer I bought and I got DW2017. (I uninstalled DW on the old computer).

Many things are changed and I am surprised that I didn't get any 'warning' that I have to learn a new system. Ok, enough of that.

Where is the icon for having access to the remote files (server)? I cant find it where it was previously.

I don't know which version you had before, but if it was 2014 or 2015 and you had synced your preferences to the cloud, your site definitions should have carried over to CC 2017 along with your custom snippets.

Versions before cloud sync would not help you.

If you have your STE files exported from an earlier DW version, you could import them into 2017.   Site > Manage Sites > Import button.

Failing that, you must manually create your site definitions.

Until your site's are properly defined, you can't connect to remote server.  That's why I went through the long song & dance.

For having access to your server?

Not sure what you mean exactly, but if you're talking about seeing a side by side representation of your local files next to your server files, you can click the Expand button in the Files window (Window > Files if it's not open). It's the 2-square icon on the far right of that window's toolbar. You can then hit the connect icon to see the file list.

Thanks for your reply Jon.

I can not find that icon in CC 2017 - no problem in the previous version.

I assume that the icon will be there even if I am not connected (the right way)

My guess would be you haven't selected a Site Definition yet.

You need to have a site selected in the left dropdown menu of the Files window in order for the toolbar to activate (connect, get, put, synchronize and expand).
