Question

Which Version

At my age I have no interest in learning to code; I have in the past created web pages in FrontPage 2003, in Design View.  The web pages always seemed to work fine; the only problem was when my hosting site stopped using FrontPage Extensions.  My questions are, what is the last version of Dreamweaver that allowed creation of web pages in Design View, and like FrontPage does Dreamweaver require anything like FrontPage Extensions?  I appreciate all replies and would thank you in advance.

Have a look at this extension for Dreamweaver version >17 (current version = 19) Building a Responsive Layout with Bootstrap 4 Version 2 - YouTube

Another, probably more cost effective way, is to choose a program that will do what you want. For the price of a latte per month, you can get the basic freelance version of Wappler

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!

Thank you for your reply I certainly appreciate it; I believe I know what I will do.  I just didn't want to spend much money or time on the small project I had in mind.  Once again, Thanks!

I don't mean to be pessimistic but too much has changed since FP went belly up.  The web of the late 20th century was in its early infancy then.   Things were simple.  Everyone used same or similar devices and nobody knew what an iPhone was.  That's all changed now and so have the underlying web technologies that drive the modern Internet.    If you can't code and won't learn to code, you can use one of those DIY online products like Wix,  Webflow or even WordPress but legacy web authoring software is not an answer.

#1 Adobe stopped making Creative Suite after 2012.

#2 Legacy Creative Suite products are no longer sold legally anywhere by any agent or re-seller in any country.  And all product support has ended.  You use legacy products at your own risk.

#3 Even if you could find a legit pre-owned license that someone is willing to transfer,  Transfer an Adobe product license,   i's not certified to run on an OS higher than Win7 or OSX 7.

Thank you so much for your reply.  I have seen different versions of Dreamweaver being offered on the internet and thought one of the older versions might be an answer; especially since my old computer has the Windows XP Operating System.  I do have Expression Web 4 on my Laptop and it looks like I may be forced to look into coding as much as I didn't want to.  Oh well, again thanks so much for your reply.

Expression Web?  Maybe I'm wrong but I thought MS discontinued that about 8 or 9 years ago.

Short answer: there really is no version of DW currently available that will do exactly what you want out of the box. The internet, and the program, have both moved on from the days of APDivs and/or table based layouts.

Long answer: with enough extensions purchased, from providers like Project VII or DMXZone, you can do pretty much whatever you like without going anywhere near Code View in DW. The most useful extensions are not free however. If you have a budget, you can basically make DW "codeless" from the designer's perspective.

DW doesn't use server-side extensions like FP did, so the hosting company you choose isn't nearly as important as it was with FrontPage.

Thank you for your reply, wasn't what I wanted to hear but suspected I might.  I do have a copy of Web Expression 4 which I may look into but I really didn't want to get involved with coding.  Oh well, life goes on.  Again thanks!
