Why can't dreamweaver display my web pages properly?

I created my websites with Front Page several years ago. I love Front Page!

I found it extremely easy to use. When I upgraded my computer to Windows 10

I discovered I could no longer edit web pages with Front Page. I found and

used Komposer to manage my websites. I did not like it at all! Komposer is

just a free basic html editor without any robust functions. I need an html

editor that has more than the standard formatting selections. I searched

the Internet and came across Dreamweaver CC. So, now I am using Dreamweaver

CC to edit my website. I am slowly learning how to use it but I am finding

that it will not display many of my web pages that were designed with

tables. I am completely frustrated. Dreamweaver CC has lots and lots of

capabilities. Why can't it display my web pages properly?

FP generated some of the worst code on the planet which is why MS killed FP in 2003 and replaced it with Expression Web.   Even MS admitted that FP could not be fixed.  I'm surprised you kept using it.

Face it, 14 year old proprietary code from FP needs to be replaced.  It's not worth salvaging.  We no longe3r use table layouts.  Everything is HTML5 and CSS now.

Until you can find time to rebuild your site, use the code Validation tools in DW to check your code and fix as many reported errors as possible.   Clean code is the best defense against rendering problems in DW and modern browsers.

It depends on the code; any coding errors will upset Dreamweaver. It also depends on whether you are in Live view, Design view or Real-time Preview and if you have completed the site setup as per How to set up a testing server in Dreamweaver

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!

Thanks for the quick reply.  You are right that FP had messy code.  It could be quite aggravating sometimes.  I was one of the rare people that understands html.  Whenever there was a problem I could straighten it out in Code View.  I used it for almost 20 years.  I liked it because I knew how to use it inside and out.

I understand.  It's hard to get warm & fuzzy with new tools.  But the more you use them the easier it gets.
