Why can't my client and I connect to CushyCMS? Has something changed?

Hello professionals,

Until recently I had a client making her own edits to the site I created through CushyCMS. It worked for both her and I for years. Has something changed? I created a new CushyCMS account under a different login/password. Seems either I don't understand the ftp details or CushyCMS no longer works as I keep getting the response: "FTP Error. The page is temporarily unavailable. There may be some network issues contacting the server the page is hosted on. Please try again in a few minutes."

Does it have something to do with the Server field? In the instructions it says: "Custom FTP ports can be specified by using the following format for the Server field: Custom FTP ports can be specified by using the following format for the Server field: ftp://server.com:55"

What does :55 refer to? Am I assuming incorrectly that the server name would be the same as site URL?

I was just using one of my testing URLs in trying to reconnect with CushyCMS. See screenshot below.

I was looking over that. I tried asking a GoDaddy customer service agen (via Chat -- maybe not the best way) to see if "whitelisting" CushyCMS might do the trick, as it's always worked before, perfectly. But the Chat agent claimed they can't. Not sure why as I am fairly certain I got someone at GoDaddy several years ago to whitelist an IP address to get another client's form info to send.

Maybe I'll try again. Via phone.

How else can one make a website editable for a client who doesn't code?

Rebuild the site on WordPress or WebFlow.

For an existing site, you might look at WonderCMS. It's a flatfile CMS that uses text files for data. No MySQL database needed. I've never tested it myself. But it has been around for quite a while.

As far as I can fathom, you need to upload the site that you created in Dreamweaver to your remote host. Once that is working correctly, you can configure CushyCMS. This part is outside the scope od Dreamweaver and I suggest getting in touch with CushyCMS.

It should be that easy. Always was, but for some dumb reason it just no longer connects. I contacted the client's host, GoDaddy, via chat, but they were of no help in understanding what I am talking about. They claim they can't "whitelist" CushyCMS as suggested in the FAQs:

My FTP details are correct, or my site is behind a firewall. Why won't Cushy connect?

It's possible that the FTP server is rejecting connections from Cushy. Have the hosting company (or your tech support, in the case of a firewall) whitelist Cushy's IP address: 198.74.49.153.
