Question

why is my browser blocking my webpage from running?

I have just upgraded from dreamweaver 8 to dreamweaver 11.5.  When I try to preview my html page via dreamweaver, I always get a page is being blocked from IE.  This did not happen with dreamweaver 8.  Is there some setting I can configure so that I am not blocked?

When I back out of the newest Dreamweaver11.5 back to 8, then again no problem with IE 8 blocking my pages. Must be something to do with dreamweaver 11.5 and IE 8.  Or else, there must be some configuration I need to setup in 11.5.

I do not have a test server in my environment, therefore, none is setup in the site management.   We have only our machine that is facing the public and we test with it (by renaming scripts during updates/development).  So the manage site setup is with an ftp ip definition, a root directory and a web url.   The error is is at the top of my IE window "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer...."

Thanks.

That warning is generated by Internet Explorer, and has nothing to do with Dreamweaver. It's simply telling you that there's JavaScript on the page. The idea is to protect people who might have unknowingly downloaded some malware, which is trying to run a script on your local computer. Since it's one of your own pages, just click the warning and select the option to allow scripts to run on that page.

The warning appears only when the page is accessed locally in Internet Explorer. It does not appear when the page is accessed on the internet, nor does it appear in any other browser. It's an IE-only "feature".

Yep, and what a nice feature it is! Ugh. I used to see this a lot on even basic pages back when I was using the swap image behavior for button rollovers. It's interesting that you only started seeing this only after upgrading, nut sometimes these things are just a coincidence - you may have added something to the page that makes it seem likes it's related to the upgrade. Either way, the above answer and solution is correct.

You have to provide a little more details.  Is there a testing server involved?  If so which one?  And the error, is this the bar that appears at the top of IE (eg: ActiveX warning)?
