Question

Will Dreamweaver be offering support for BootstrapVue projects?

As an interface designer I have been using Dreamweaver for many years, and have appreciated the Bootstrap intergration. Over the past year or so, almost all of my team projects are now using BootstrapVue, which is a great framework for database-based projects.

While I can hand edit .vue files as .html in the Code View, I am really missing:

  • The ability to preview and edit in the Design View
  • The CSS Designer
  • Gobal Search, which does not properly search the.vue files.

Are there any plans to add .vue functionality to Dreamweaver?

And, if not, does the community have recommendations for a replacement editor?

I don't see much chance of this happening as Dreamweaver is only minimally maintained now.  No new features are being planned for it.

That's pretty sad, as we are locked into the big monthly fees. But thanks for the info.

Interesting that someone using the Vue framework would be using Dreamweaver as their editor of choice. I would start looking around at other editors if you want Vue support however it's unlikely that you will find one that offers a Design View. Vue is for big boys and girls, they don't usually require a Design View option. The only other editors l know with a Design View are Pinegrow but l don't know if it offers any Vue compatibility. Wappler does have a Design View but it uses its own javascript framework, similar to Vue, so that doesn't have any inbuilt compatibility with Vue.

Personally ld just ditch the Design View aspect and manually code, you're much better off as you can use any editor.

Agreed. It seems really strange to be using vue.js and expecting drag/drop/design view modes to build those projects.

DW is not in the development stack process for this sort of thing and the advice for the OP is spot on.

It looks like you are using the wrong tool for what you want. According to BootstrapVue, you are better off with

If I were in your position, I would go for Wappler, the low code editor.

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!
