Question

Exmancmd throwing 418 error even when there is no other version exists

Hi,

We are getting 'Failed to install, status = -418!' when installing our panel in After Effects.

We used --list all command to see the details but there was no panel under After Effects.

0 extension installed for After Effects (ver 18.2.0)
Status Extension Name Version
========= ======================================================= ==========

Initially during the troubleshooting, even when 'list all' query was showing no panels installed in After effects, in application we are able to see the new version of panel in extensions section. So there was after effects panel folder under '/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions'. We deleted that folder and after that in After effects UI extensions the panel was not showing. But still getting 418 error while trying to install a new zxp.

Removed the following file from the system based on one of the forum posts,

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CC/Configuration/DB/

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CC/Configuration/XManConfigV2.xml.

Still issue persists. How can we solve this issue?

Exmancmd Version :7.11.1.255

Mac Os Catalina 10.15.7

Hi @emam-dev ,

So error 418 is:  EXMAN_FAILED_NEWER_EXTENSION_INSTALLED = -418... which isn't that helpful. I'll ask around about that one.

For After Effects 18.2, you may need to use UPIA instead of Exmancmd. Have you seen these two articles?

You might also try using Anastasiy's Extension Manager, which has some tools that help fix database conflicts.

It may be the case that the default CEP folder location has changed from the "System" level to the "User" level:

  • System extension folder

    • Win(x64): C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions, and C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions (since CEP 6.1)
    • macOS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions
  • Per-user extension folder

    • Win: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CEP/extensions
    • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions
