Getting a backend validation error when uploading a plugin update to the Exchange distribution portal

I'm running into a backend validation error when trying to upload/update an extension on the Exchange distribution portal:

• "The maximum version you mentioned is greater than the maximum supported version for product ILST"
  I have tried everything nothing helps
