Adobe Fireworks CS6 Keeps Crashing on Macbook Pro

I've downloaded Adobe Fireworks CS6 from adobe.com --> products --> other downloads to my brand new Macbook Pro 15" laptop and registered the product using my license key.

However, every time I try to open a file the program crashes. How can I mitigate this issue?
