Can anyone explain how I can use a colour photo and keep part of it coloured, e.g. some red apples, and turn the reast of it black and white, using Macromedia Fireworks 8?

    Hi,

You need to use selection tools to isolate the area you want to affect; lasso tool, polygon lasso tool and for selecting areas by similiar color the magic wand tool is going to be the best. Once you have made a selection you'll probably need to fine tune by using add to and remove from selection.

Once you have your selection the easiest way to go black and white is from the toolbat > commands > convert to greyscale or go to the filters in the propery panel > Adjust Color > Hue Saturation > and move the saturation slider to the far left (you can always play about with the sliders to get the desired effect).

    Here's a video on selection tools: https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=p3BJOI-5stQ

Maybe do a serach on Youtube for 'making selections in Adobe Fireworks', 'selection tools in adobe fireworks' etc etc
