Eraser tool not in sync

I am running CS3 on Windows 10 on a new laptop I just bought.  When I attempt to use the eraser tool, the pointer is not in sync with what is being erased.  It erases in another spot on the screen, so you really have to just guess.  Any idea why this might be happening, and more importantly, how to correct it? Below is a screenshot of how far apart the pointer and eraser actually are.

CS3 was retired in 2017.  Keys for discs no longer work.  Trust me, you're busted.  CS3, Acrobat 8 ~ Activation Servers Retired  Please quit wasting my time.  I will repost and hope someone won't blow a bunch of crap at me.

I installed Fireworks CS3 on my system WITH THE TRIAL OPTION, purely to try and help you ... Lesson learned on my part.
If you check your messages I sent you a link to a screencast I recorded showing Fireworks CS3 working OK on my system (windows 10) running in compatibility mode ..... SO I'M NOT SO FULL OF BALONEY AFTER ALL But thanks for reporting me for having the cheek to try and help you, Oh BTW I will not be responding any more

Other thing to consider is CS3 was released back in 2007, it just may not be compatible with Windows 10. I'll see if I can get a copy of Fireworks CS3 and try at this end as I'm on Windows 10 too.

I know it's old.  I do run it on another computer that also has Windows 10 and it works fine, but it may not be the same version.  And YES, it is a touchscreen laptop.

My 2 in 1 does weird things and drives me mad, like the mouse pointer periodically disappearing! Try disabling the touch-pen driver in device manager. Look under Human Interface Devices for something like HID Compliant Pen = right click > disable  .. See if that helps any?

I'm assuming you were using the mouse pad to control  the eraser tool ?
