I upgraded my MacBook Pro to the new operating system "Catalina".  Now my Fireworks does not even open.  Please tell me there is a fix in the works.  I really want the program back.

Catalina didn't just deprecate old apps (warn they wouldn't work). Catalina actively blocked ALL OLD APPS from running. This was Apple's deliberate choice. Your choice whether to upgrade, but now you have, in choosing to run it, you chose to turn all your old apps to toast. Getting all new apps is part of the Joy Of Mac. And where there is no newer app to buy, it's gone. Apple's "free" upgrades are often very expensive.

CS6 finished more than 5 years ago, nothing in it will ever be "fixed". And a new Fireworks? Adobe announced it would be phased out 7 years ago. If you want to run it, get an antique computer; shouldn't be too expensive, someone probably has one in an attic.

You'll need a dual boot setup if you aren't prepared to switch to a Windows PC - 32 bit apps won't run on Catalina. As Adobe stopped developing Fireworks several years ago its hghly unlikely there will ever be a 64 bit version. Terrible decision by Adobe.

Catalina deprecated 32bit support - which means any older software which lacks a 64bit version no longer runs on the newest Mac Os. Unfortunately, this includes FIreworks.

Since Adobe stopped developing and supporting Fireworks many years ago, all hope is lost for a fix. Adobe will never release a new 64bit compatible Mac version of Fireworks.

You do have a few options left:

    • install a Windows virtual machine, and run the Windows version of Fireworks.
    • Or roll back to a previous version Mac OS.
