Just posting this solution because I had the same issue and finally resolved it.

Fireworks appears to use older licensing code which doens't work with Adobe accounts where you sign in via an organisation (e.g. where it's supplied by a University?)

Adobe MUSE appears to use the same one but it seems to work with the organisation accounts whereas Fireworks just asks for a serial number.

So using MUSE to licence the older Creative Suite apps made Fireworks work for me again.

    • I enabled older apps in Creative Cloud preferences
    • Installed Adobe MUSE
    • Made sure Fireworks was closed
    • Loaded MUSE and let it licence itself correctly
    • Shut it down and then Fireworks works - without asking for a serial

    Hopefully that helps others.

For what it's worth. I went on Adobe support and they have fixed mine. Took a while but they installed a coupel of fixes and got it going again.

I'm in the same boat. I've tried all of the hopeful workarounds but I think it's just not going to work any longer. Adobe is refusing to suppor it even though you can still install it from the creative cloud app. This has been coming since 2010, but I've been using Fireworks since it first came out at Macromedia. There is no good alternative for it either which is a shame.

    Alternatives:

    - Adobe Photoshop

    - Adobe Illustrator

    - Photopea - A web based app (bit of a Photoshop clone) that can open layered Fireworks PNGs

    - Affinity Designer - Nearest thing to Fireworks with Mac and PC versions available - You can buy all three Affinity programs Publisher, Photo and Designer and use something called Studio Link that essentially combines the features of all three programs into one.

For me (full Creative Cloud Subscription) at the moment on Windows 10 workaround of running PDappexe as administrator and Fireworks.exe NOT as an administrator is suppressing the message. If you have full Creative Cloud subscription, tried that and it doesn't work I suggest downloading an offline installer from here and **IMPORTANT** visit this page first and login to your Adobe account before downloading, they are links to official Adobe installers so you need to set a cookie. After you've done that try the workaround again.

I found that the only dependable method to keep running Fireworks that is guaranteed to work on Windows 10 is to run the "portable" version of Fireworks which is, of course, a cracked version of FW CS6.

(I no longer use Fireworks for actual work, and use it to open older files. Due to the confidentiality of some of those older files, I am not in the position to open the FW files in Photopea.)

Since I pay the rent for CC, and also own a straight-out license of Fireworks CS6, I think I am in my rights to use that 'portable' version. Besides, Fireworks is legacy abandonware. Unfortunately I cannot share the link to that version here. (hint: look for the Latin king)

But it works, and it works well. It is indeed a sad day to realize that Adobe still offers access to an application but refuses to support it, and forces users like me to actually use a cracked version - even though I am supposed to be able to install and use the legal version! Either support it, or remove it altogether from the Adobe CC suite. Leaving Fireworks users hanging in limbo like this feels rather... ethically suspect, in my opinion.
