Question

Hi - This is the first time posting here. And I recommend you read this first.

Hi - My name is Ian Hatchett and I'm 34 (that's important and you'll learn why later). Today tried to launch Adobe Fireworks today. I tried to buy an individual copy when I found out it was no longer available through Creative Cloud. I tried to contact someone beyond the keyboards of the help chat. Instead I'm left posting my feelings here.

I want to tell you why I mentioned my age, but for that I have to start in 2002, when I was studied web design in college. I happened to meet the amazing woman who would later became my wife there that year as well. I was also introduced to Macromedia Fireworks 4 as part of my course, as the years passed and I left college, I became a web developer, then project manager, art shop sales assistant, pen and paper RPG club runner, night club glass collector, dad (9 years ago), husband (7 years ago), web developer (again), graphics designer and then company director. Meanwhile Fireworks 4 became Fireworks MX, MX 2004, 8, Adobe Fireworks CS3 (Adobe acquired Macromedia), CS4, CS5 and CS6. Of my 34 years, I have spent 17 of them with one graphics tool as my go to, even when I was comfortable with Illustrator and Indesign. That's half of my life.

I've just finished arguing with Sales and Technical staff. There seems to be no way for me to access (at least in an editable format) most of the artwork I've produced in half of my lifetime as it's "not supported". I understand it's old, unsupported and liable to not work on an OS at some point. But the kick in the teeth is that it ran on my laptop last week.

If you've read this far I want to apologise and thank you for reading this. I'm sorry for selecting all the topics below, but at the moment I'm upset and angry. I tried to find a complaints email, so that I didn't have to bother the "wider public" but all I found were "Live Chat" and excuses.

If anyone can help - my email is (Email Address Removed by Moderator) (as it has been since 2002).

If you download the Fireworks CS6 installer make sure keep it in a safe place for next time, you never if or for how long those offline installers links will remain available 😉

Here are some commands for Fireworks that might help with batch conversion of Fireworks PNGs (supplied as is without any warranty). Unzip and copy the Batch_Convert folder to your Fireworks commands folder. Personally I'll continue using Fireworks for a long time yet 🙂

You can still download the Fireworks CS6 installation file here:

https://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html

Before trying to click one of the FIreworks links, ensure you are logged into your Adobe account.

If you have a serial number for FW CS6, it will ask you to enter it during installation. Or run it as a 30 day trial, and use that time to convert all your files to a file format which can be read in other applications.

I would save these as layered PSD files. But do realize that no file format, other than Fireworks' own PNG format, will support all of FW's functionality.

And as was already mentioned here, MacOs Catalina will not run Fireworks. Works fine in Windows 10.

Hi - if you have a full creative cloud subscription. Fireworks CS6 is available. In the Creative Cloud app preferences make sure you have the 'show older apps' setting checked. If you are on the latest Mac OS Catalina then you will NOT be able to use Fireworks as its only available as a 32bit app.

I am very much still using it, and it seems to all be working fine through creative cloud. What OS are you on?

I use windows 10 and it working fine for me. See the above reply to this for instructions how to enable it through creative cloud.

Ian Mark Hatchett, good evening.
If it is Fireworks CS6, you can download it by contracting Creative Cloud All Apps (as of 2019/11)
