Question

I'm stuck in a licencing loop with Adobe Fireworks

When I attempt to open Adobe Fireworks I get the 'Trial period over' box. (this just started Jan 2021)
I hit the 'Licence this Software' button

I Sign in to my Adobe account. (even though I am signed in CC anyway)

It thinks for a moment and then thanks me for signing in and tells me I'm licenced.

When I hit continue, instead of the software opening up. The whole thing just starts again.

I've been using fireworks for more years than I care to remember. For web graphics and many other graphical jobs its what I'm quickest in.

I've installed and uninstalled to no avail.

Can anybody help me out of this loop?

This has been my morning too! I've been onto adobe support for hours going in circles.

Was on windows 7 and none of the apps like photoshop indesign would work anymore and were 'incompatable'.

Now upgraded to windows 10 they say that fireworks now won't work and needs a downgraded windows!

You can't win. Me and my boss both use fireworks everyday, not sure what we'll be able to use now that is as good.

Why pay all this money when we can't just use a downgraded version?

I'm on  Windows 10 with all latest updates and Fireworks works fine, I would try an offline Fireworks installer see here

**Very important to read the text above the download links, you need to acess an Adobe page first and sign in to set a cookie, the links are genuine Adobe installers.

Adobe don't care about Fireworks and most of the support staff don't even seem to know anything about it in my experience. I think in a few years they will regret ditching Fireworks.

I'm having the same issue. I can't use the software because the trial has expired. I reached out to our IT team but they don't have a solution. Photoshop would work but it over-kill for 90% of the edits I need to make. I guess I'll have to find a non-adobe solution.

Do you see a 'license this software' button?

Yes, when I hit that it wants a serial number. I don't have one and neither does my IT department.

I want to take this issue to a higher level.

I've tried talking to Adobe but because the product is no longer serviced they send me here. And I think I've exhausted all the options here.

It's OK that the product is discontinued and out of service. But I OWN Adobe Fireworks, I've owned a copy since the Macromedia days.

But because I'm on a leasing contract with Adobe they've ripped from me. Is that cool? Not to me.

========

That won't happen. Adobe staff no longer look at this space because Fireworks is EOL.

But I OWN Adobe Fireworks, I've owned a copy since the Macromedia days.

You don't own anything.  Adobe owns the software.  Customers who purchased disks had at most a limited, non-exclusive license to use the product for as long as Adobe saw fit to make it available.  But that all ended in 2017 when Adobe stopped selling Creative Suite licenses.

Your Creative Cloud ALL APPS plan allows you to use certain discontinued titles like Fireworks and Muse if you have an old OS that supports it and you checked the box to Show Older Apps. I'm on Win10 with latest updates and can still see Fireworks, Muse and a few other discontinued titles in my CC desktop app.  However for reasons of my own, I prefer not to use discontinued products and find that Photoshop and Illustrator do everything I need for web & print output.  For special use cases, I have other modern graphics software in my toolbox.

Try installing Fireworks on a different device with an older OS on it.

Which operating system and version do you have?

Are you able to update your Creative Cloud desktop app?

Try signing out in the Adobe Creative Cloud app first then launch Fireworks repeat the steps i.e. click the 'license this software' button => login to correct Adobe account

Have you tried the Cleaner Tool - do a full clean up and start again

I'm assuming you have a full or student/teacher Creative Cloud subscription?
