After installing Mountain Lion, Adobe Fireworks CS6 (12.0.0.236) now returns an error message when exporting via Image Preview.

“Could Not Save File”

“The File Was Not Found”

However, FW CS6 save the file... how do I get the error message to go away?

This issue has been fixed with the latest update for Fireworks CS6.

You can click on Help>Updates and update to the latest version. You can also download and install the patch from the following location:

When will there be a fix for Fireworks 5.1 or alternatively free upgrades for CS5 users to CS6 now that Fireworks has been abandoned?

It won't be updated for CS5 because they want you to pay for the upgrade to Creative Cloud which includes CS6. Nor will they provide free upgrades to CS6 because CS6 has not been abandoned. It will keep getting updates just there will not ever be a CS7/CC.

Nor will they open source because then all the users who only use Adobe CC for Fireworks would cancel their subscriptions and stop using Adobe. They are hoping users will be forced to stop using Fireworks and switch to a combination of Photoshop, Illustrator, and such.

It's unfortunate since currently Photoshop/Illustrator etc can now offer the same features or be as effiecient as Fireworks is/was. But for Adobe there wasn't a large enough user base I imagine to balance the amount of money to make all the upgrades needed to FW to keep it inline with the rest of the suite.

Until now there has been really no competition since PSDs are a closed format and you need to be able to read/save PSDs for working with the real world. But as of this week a third party as open sourced the psd format "psd.rb". Hopefully that may open up the option for future competition which will be better than Adobe or force Adobe to once again cater to their Fireworks userbase.

Have faith all! We might have fix soon!

    http://blogs.adobe.com/fireworks/2013/05/the-future-of-adobe-fireworks.html

Is Adobe really going to fix any of the existing bugs in Fireworks?

Yes, Adobe is already planning to release an update for Fireworks CS6 in the coming weeks that addresses over 25 reported issues, including the “File not found” issue on Mac OS 10.8 often experienced when exporting from the Image Preview dialog.

Brand new MBP. Brand new Creative Cloud membership. Open FW and... "Bam!" this silly error message is the first thing to greet my new experience. Not so good for the brand. Also not so good that I now see the problem has been persistent for a long time with no fix.

O.K, I've found a solution that works for me, I'm using Macbook pro Retina 15" with OSX 10.8.3, first try steps 1 and 2 and after every step try to relanch fireworks and see if it worked.

If not continue to steps 3 and 4.

    1. Disable all Fireworks extensions in "Adobe Extension Manager".

    2.Remove Fireworks preferences in "Users/YourUser/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Fireworks" (CMD+shift+G in finder -> "/Users/YoutUser/Library/")

rename the Fireworks folder to "old.Fireworks", fireworks will rebuild this folder when relunched again.

3.remove fireworks with "appCleaner" (appCleaner is free to download from here: http://www.freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/) and then uninstall fireworks from official uninstaller ("Applications/Utilities/Adobe installers/Uninstall Adobe Fireworks CS6")

4.reinstall Fireworks from "Adobe Application Manager".

    Peace and love.

    TO: Adobe Fireworks Development Team:

I am having the same problem using Export Wizard in Fireworks CS5.5 on Mac OS 10.8.2 --- I just purchased this Mac and it is top of the line with Retina, solid state HD, etc.

It gives this error message when trying to export a jpeg for the web:

“Could not save the file. File not found.”

How can this be fixed ?  Very annoying.

Please fix this problem. There are plenty of FW users complaining. We are not going away.
