Mojave OS screwed up Fireworks

Well, ... now what?  Mojave OS is now 64bit and Fireworks is 32bit.  I'm getting warning signs that if I update more, Fireworks won't work.

It's the only program that allows layered PNG files that can be altered at a later time.  In photoshop, they are flat.  Any hope of FW updating to 2019 any time soon, or have we seen the last of it?

Esther

Unfortunately those layered PNGs are in a proprietary format unique to Fireworks and can only be opened as layers in Fireworks (to my knowledge anyway).

Fireworks went into EOL status back in 2013, so unless somebody at Adobe sees sense and has a change of heart (I don't think that's ever happened)  I doubt they will be do anything with Fireworks now, but I will keep my fingers crossed and dream

See this thread for batch conversion and some example of creating a command to do the job

Fireworks PNG to PSD - How do I do this?

I'm on Windows and will continue to use Fireworks for as long as I can, I love it !!

I'm seriously thinking of partitioning just for that reason!  :-)

You can export Fireworks PNGs into a layered PSD format Esther, the conversion isn't always 100% perfect but for the most part it should work OK. Either manually save as > PSD or you can use a batch command to convert FW PNGs in bulk

THank you for your response.  However, then each image will now have a PSD and a PNG file doubling up my files.  With Fireworks, all we needed was the PNG.

I've tried so many programs to replace it knowing this was going to happen soon or later, but nothing compares.  :-(   I'm so bummed.
