Please build an import for layered PNG files for Photoshop or Illustrator

Adobe support agent: "Fireworks layers are stored in the private chunks of the PNG files in a proprietary format which is not PNG. I don't know of any program that can read them."

Since there doesnt seem to be any movement toward reinstating Fireworks. There are many many people who would greatly appreciate an import that would preserve the layer data.

Here are some batch conversion commands for Fireworks which may of use - If you have a full or student Creative Cloud subscription you should still have access to Fireworks unless you are running macOS Catalina which does NOT support 32 bit apps.

Unzip  the batch commands and copy the folder to your Fireworks Commands folder (Windows path is usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Fireworks CS6\Configuration\Commands\

Some people have reported not having access to Fireworks from inside the Creative Cloud App, if that's the case you could try downloading the Fireworks CS6 installer from here *NOTE* read the download instructions, you need to visit an Adobe page first and login to your Adobe account first before attempting to download an installer. As long as you have a full or student/teacher Creative Cloud subscription and the Creative Cloud app already installed Fireworks should get activated automatically or at least you could run it in trial mode and convert your Fireworks PNGs.

*NOTE* The conversion is not always perfect, for example with Fireworks PNG to PSD conversion some effects may a look a little different.

    Paul,

Your Post has already been posted in the Fireworks thread and is not really relevant to this request. I was not asking about exporting files from Fireworks

maybe you should post in  the Photoshop forum in that case instead of moaning on here.  These forums are user to user, if you have an issue with Adobe take it up with them directly.
