webhelp skin.png - edit with fireworks?

In my epublisher online help output files is a folder called Connect and an images subfolder containing a skin.png file, which holds the icons for the interface, e.g. prev button, home icon, etc. I would like to edit the icon colors but the skin.png file does not allow selection of an icon image; does anyone know how I might use Fireworks (or Illustrator) to edit the skin.png file?

I'm not sure if you're just asking how to open the file in Fireworks, but depending on your operating system (Windows or Mac), you can do one of two things:

    1. Right/CMD click on the icon and choose "Open With" and navigate to Fireworks
    2. Open Fireworks, and navigate to the folder where the icon is stored, and open from there.

Unless the file is protected/readonly access, you should be able to edit it with no problems.

You can upload the skin.png file to any [public/shared] cloud service or website folder, and paste the link in your reply.
