10.1 and IE wont install

downloaded 10.1 and go through installation process and says I have to close Internet Explorer but there is no IE open that I can tell anywhere, even disconnected ethernet cable.  any suggestions?

    IE may be running invisibly; check with the Task Manager (Processes tab) if there is any instance of iexplore.exe running.  Also make sure that no messenger applications are running.
