Question

10.1 Player Causing Safari 5.0 and OS to Temporarily Freeze

Flash Player Version: MAC 10,1,53,64

OS: Mac OS 10.6.3

Browser: Safari 5.0

Machine: MacBook Pro 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Issue: Installed the new player last night and visited http://boomkat.com/ this morning to listen to some new tracks. The tracks opened just fine, but when I tried to stop and close the Flash-based player, my entire system froze up (minus mouse movement of course) for approximately 15-20 seconds. I reset Safari, went back to the site, and everything happened again, so it was a repeatable error. Ideas?

Thanks!

Hi, I read that Apple released over 4 Dozen Security Updates for the Safari browser for Macs and Windows. You may want to review them.

    Thanks,

All updates for my mac already applied.  Running OS X 10.6.3 and Safari 5.  Have read several other posts about Flash 10.1 and Safari 5 not playing nicely together.

I had the same problem with my iGoogle home page and some other sites that were using flash.  Seems like Safari 5 and Flash 10.1 do not work well together yet.  I uninstalled Flash using the uninstaller here:

I may try to install Adobe Gala, or at least re-install the previous version of Flash.
