23.0.0.205 version for Windows 10 - problems viewing video from cd

Hello,

I would like some help as I'm trying to troubleshoot a particular problem I am having viewing video material from an educational CD. The link looks like this when I try to open it file:///D:/menus/video/gui_unit01b_the_travel_writer.html

This problem apparently began when the computer was updated to Windows 10. Previously there was no problem at all with viewing this material. I have tried all the recommended trouble shooting recommendations from the Adobe website and have tried opening the video content from a number of different browsers to no avail.

With one exception. On my Macbook I can still access the videos via Firefox. This is not possible, however, on the PC. On the Macbook the other browsers do not run the video either.

This is a CD from a major ELT publisher (Macmillan) included as a teacher's resource disk that has sold worldwide. I have used it for several years and this is the first time I have had any problems. It appears that the problem may be an incompatibility issue between the flash player update (and/or browser) and the content on the CD.

Can anyone help with this?

A big thanks in advance.

Scott

    Hi

To improve security in Flash Player, local file system access was disabled by default in version 23.0.0.163, released on 13-Sept-16.  There is a workaround to re-enable it.  Please see the Release Notes Flash Player 23 AIR 23 section "Disabling local-with-filesystem access in Flash Player by default"  for more information.
