5.1 Surround Not Working in PPAPI Chrome

i can tell you why I use the other flash then the one built in to chrome. The one that is built in to chrome ONLY plays youtube and other things on left and right speaker. NO other speakers even though i set stereo to come out of all speakers in 5.1 setup. in the NPAPI flash it sends sound to all speakers like it should. the built in HATES surround and stereo forced to surround 😞

Thanks for this feedback. I wanted to explore this issue in more depth (and hopefully get it resolved), so I branched it out to it's own thread.

There's a possibility that this may be a limitation of the PPAPI, but it seems more likely that this is unintended behavior in either Chrome or Flash. We had a similar issue when we sandboxed Firefox, and the low-integrity Flash Player process didn't have permission to set the correct audio parameters anymore (it caused some other funky stuff too, like the volume slider not remembering it's state). It definitely feels familiar.

I'd like to get a bug filed, but it would be helpful to know more about your configuration. I'm assuming that you're using Windows. Could you give us the output of the DirectX Diagnostic Tool? This will give us the details on your hardware and drivers so that we can find a comparable machine. Just launch a command prompt, type 'dxdiag' (no quotes) a the commandline and hit Enter. Choose Save All Information and then copy the contents of the file to a reply here.

Also, do you do something in the software for your sound card or anything to force 5.1 surround (some of the cards have fancy control panels and stuff where you can force simulated surround, etc), or is this a thing where it just works by default in all instances but PPAPI on Chrome?

I have a creative X-FI audiocard pci-e version with logitech Z506 surround set. I have set creative soundblaster sorftware set to 5.1 with X-FI CMSS-3D enabled so stereo sound is put out to all speakers. Yes it works every else in windows. in firefox in the same youtube stereo is converted out to all speakers but in chrome only to front left and right speakers when I use the built in Flash. If I go in and change it in chrome://plugins it works but now with the 64 bit it craches and you are closing that down later this yearh. I really hope you guys can fix so it can put stereo out to all speakers like it does from youtube in firefox when i have XFI CMSS-3D enabled.
