Accessing Global Settings

Hi,

I have Flashplayer 10.3, all is well.  My friend has 10.2 on XP.  She cannot access the Global Settings, so we can video chat.

I see the instructions at:

http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html

Also, I have setup my 10.3 fine and dandy.  When we select Global Settings in her Flashplayer, she is sent to a webpage about Help.

How does one access this Global Settings menu in Flashplayer 10.2, please?

Thanks,

SHD

    Hi SHD,

Glad your FP 10.3 is working fine--now, let's see what we can do to help your friend. In terms of Flash Player settings, the main difference between Flash Player 10.2 and 10.3 is that 10.3 includes a new Settings Manager that you can access locally, from your computer's Control Panel (Windows) or through System Preferences (Mac).

This new 10.3 local Settings Manager simply provides an easier way to access and change the same Flash Player settings as those accessed through the web-based Settings Manager located here: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager02.html.

The web-based Settings Manager that you see when you follow this link is not just a Help page--it is the actual Settings Manager, and your friend who is using FP 10.2 should be able to click the tabs to see different panels, and then change any settings required to allow video chat.

Note that there are a couple of differences in terminology between the web-based (10.2) and local (10.3) Settings Managers--the panels that are called "Privacy Settings" in the web-based version are called "Camera and Mic" in the local Settings Manager. The name is different, but the actual settings are the same.

    Hope this helps,
