Question

Adobe Download Manager is broken

I have recently switched from Chrome to Firefox and every time I update Flash the installer does not work, after much searching I eventually found this page (Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows) with the standalone installer. Why there isn't a page titled "Flash Player Stand-Alone Installers" is beyond me, just tends to suggest you guys don't really think about what you are doing very much.

It is very frustrating to have to take these extra steps every time you patch your buggy, insecure badware. I can download the Adobe Download Manager fine but when I run it it just shows a blank dialogue box.

I am running a high end system with Win 7 x64, Firefox with auto-updates enabled, and Flash Player version 18.0.0.203.

Hi,

I'd like to get the verbose log file from you.  Please do the following:

  1. Create an empty text file named ADM.trace inside your %temp% directory (usually located atC:\Users\<YourUserID>\AppData\Local\Temp\).  The file extension itself is .trace, not .txt or anything else.
    1. To create the empty text file, navigate to the %temp% directory, right-click in an empty area and select New > Text Document
    2. Rename the new file to ADM.trace
  2. Run the online installer again until it stops
  3. Go to C:\Users\<YourUserID>\AppData\Local\Temp\Adobe_ADMLogs and upload the two files,Adobe_ADM.log and Adobe_GDE.log, using the How to share a document instructions
  4. Post the URL to the uploaded log files in your reply.

Thank you.

Hi thanks for your response and glad to see you are actually looking into the issue, I see a lot of people are having the same issue.

I did as instructed however there is only and ADM log no GDE log, which seems to suggest that part of the process is never getting underway.

Adobe Cloud was incredibly slow to load (never actually did load) and frankly I can't be bothered waiting for it when I can just paste the log file in here, so here it is.

I suggest the fix for this is to give people the option to download the full installer on the "get.adobe" page, as this problem also occurs when trying to install Reader. Full installers without adware, that's what we need, because to be quite honest at this point I think a lot of people are hoping Adobe's web plugins just stop being used and HTML5 takes over.
