Adobe Flash Install Issues

Hello,

I am trying to get adboe flash on my mac. However, when I install the software and restart my browser I use the check to see if you have flash player option on the adobe website and it says that flash is not found. Is this because there is a new version of Safari out or is there another reason it will not show up on safari? It does work on firefox for me through.
