Adobe Flash Installer Popping Up Multiple Times Per Day

Hi. My computer is a Mac running the latest operating system 10.2.1

I'm writing because, in the last two days, the Adobe Flash Installer keeps interrupting me and telling me to download the latest version of Flash -- even after I've updated.

My last update was a few hours ago, and the Installer just popped up again.

When the installer tells me to download a newer version, I then go to the adobe website to make sure I'm not being spoofed by some kind of fake/malware installer.

But something wrong is going on.

Is anyone else having this problem and know what's going on?

Thanks.

Hi,

I suspect you mac OS version is a typo as 10.12 is the latest version, not 10.2.

Please do the following:

  1. Launch System Preferences > Flash Player > Updates tab
  2. Post a screenshot of the Updates tab in your reply.

Thank you.

Maria, hi.

Yes I did make a typo. My Mac is running OS 10.12.1.

I've attached a screenshot.

Hi Mirskyman ,

Thanks for posting the screenshot.  You have the latest version of Flash Player NPAPI plugin for Firefox and Safari.  However, you have a previous version of Flash Player PPAPI plugin for Opera and Chromium-based browsers.  This is the reason why the Update Notification keeps on displaying, to update the PPAPI plugin for Opera and Chromium-based browsers.  If you have one of these installed, update Flash Player PPAPI plugin for these browsers.  If you don't have one of these installed, it's best to uninstall it.  Unfortunately the Flash Player uninstaller on Mac uninstalls all Flash Player types found on the system.  After uninstalling you would need to re-install Flash Player NPAPI for Firefox/Safari.

The uninstaller is posted at Uninstall Flash Player for Mac OS

After uninstalling, you'll need to re-install Flash Player NPAPI for Firefox/Safari.  Using Firefox or Safari go to https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer to download the installer and re-install Flash Player NPAPI plugin for Firefox/Safari.
