Adobe Flash Player 10.3.181.16

Is this new version of flash player (10.3.181.16) just for those using Windows IE9?

Or is it for anyone using IE, such as IE7 or IE8?

someone told me it was just for those using IE9.

Would it cause problems if one upgraded to Flash Player version 10.3.181.16 and they were still using IE7?

I agree with eidnolb - you do not need to install it on earlier versions of IE, but it will work OK if you do install it.

see, when I went to the adobe site to check if I had the newest appropriate version for flash player, it showed

10.3.181.16 as the newest version for those using Windows with Interent Explorer as their browser.

It did not specify the updated version as being for those using Internet Explorer 9.

So I went ahead and removed 10.3.181.14 and then installed 10.3.181.16

It was only later someone told me the update was for  IE9 users (I DO NOT use IE9, but earlier version of IE)

but this version 10.3.181.16 installed, won't cause any SECURITY problems for me if Im using IE7 or IE 8 will it?

Hi, Pat is in a different time zone, so he may comment when he's on the Forum later. To answer your question about the FP vs .16.

No, there is no problem with this causing any Security Issues. I can see why there is some confusion on this latest version. There were problems with the .14 FP vs and IE9 and this is what that 10.3.181.15 fix was for, then the .16 update was released in a final version. Then that .16 is now for Windows Platform and for any IE browser.

Those that use Windows and a plugin browser such as Firefox, Opera etc will still receive Flash Player 10.3.181.14. All of the Flash Player Installers will Install the proper version. I just finished on a thread and this is confirmed.

Hope that helps until Pat is on the Forum.

Hi, My understanding it is just for the Windows Platform : http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

    http://blogs.adobe.com/flashruntimereleases/2011/05/31/flash-player-10-3-181-16-windows-activex-released/

    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/904/cpsid_90416.html

The 10.3.181.16 followed the 10.3.181.15 which was a fix for certain issues involving FP 10.3.181.14 and Windows IE9 browser. The links above explain the issues.

The first link shows that it is for Windows & Internet Explorer browsers. It doesn't say it's only for IE9, but I would decide after reading the other links.

If you are having those issues, then maybe that would be useful to Install it. If you are not having those issues, then if it were me,

    I wouldn't install it. That's my opinion.
