Adobe Flash Player 10 failed to register

Hello, I don't know much about how Adobe Flash Player works or how to fix this issue. I have a XP Pro SP3 and my flash player worked fine when I first installed it. Then one day, I turned on my laptop and let it load and suddenly my flash player would not work. I then proceeded to uninstall and reinstall the player assuming that would help, however I was wrong. I then tried ridding my computer of all adobe products and was hoping to reinstall them right after rebooting. That was a great idea except excruciating problem, my computer WILL NOT allow me to uninstall Adobe Reader, or Adobe AIR.

When I do try to uninstall the programs, I get this message

" This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found.

Please download the latest version of runtime from

http://www.adobe.com/go/getair ,

or contact the application author for an updated version. "

I also get a similar message when I try to uninstall Adobe Reader.

I would really appreciate some help with this as it is a major inconvienence for me.

Thank you in advance,

Hi, Take a look in Add/Remove via Control Panel and Post back all listings of Adobe products.

That is where I would begin to see what the issue is.

    Thanks,

After going through my control panel and looking at my add/remove programs section, I currently have Adobe AIR, Adobe Download Manager, and Adobe Reader 9.3.1

I've also tried updating my adobe reader and I get an update failed notice saying

" Cannot establish a connection. Please try again later. "

I obviously have a internet connection, so why would this happen?

Hi, thanks.  If you want to keep Air and Reader installed and are thinking that Uninstalling them may help with your Flash Player issue, then I wouldn't try that.

The problem you are having with Installing Flash Player most likely is the DLM(Download Manager) It is known to act up and sometimes does not operate correctly. I would go back to Add/Remove and Remove the DLM from there. While you are at it, check if there is also a getPlus entry. If so Remove that also and then Reboot(restart) your computer.

Now since you have Uninstalled/Installed FP we have no way of knowing what Flash files are in the Flash folder. I would go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash. Right click on the Flash folder and post back what files are there. Then we will know how to proceed.

Depending on what is in the Flash folder, we may need to Uninstall. If so, then I'll give you that info and also an Internet Installer that you'll download to your Desktop and run from there.

    Let me know.

    Thanks,
