Adobe Flash Player

I'm the primary analyst and distributor for Adobe Flash in our corporation and having multiple issues with Adobe Flash.

1.  Getting the Application Initialization Error when trying to reinstall Adobe after a monthly security update.

I've tried all the forums and fixes - same issue

2.  For the Windows 10  Adobe Flash - I understand that Adobe Flash is Integrated within IE - but we are seeing issues where it shows as an Add-on within IE and Shockwave is enabled but the workstation still doesn't recognize Adobe Flash and will not play the video.

I referenced:  Flash Player Issues | Windows 10 | Internet Explorer  - multiple times - does not resolve the issue.

I tested FlashPlayer and it says 'not installed' even though it shows as an ADD-ON

3. How do you get the Flash Player plugin to update within Chrome?

Flash Player with Google Chrome  - referenced this and there's been no change

4. What's the best way to get the latest Security update for Adobe Flash to a Windows 10 workstation, specifically a Surface Pro?

    Hi sebrenal17233800

    1. If you're getting the 'application initialization error'  you are using the online/web installers.  These are shim installers the download and install Flash Player silently in the background.  They are intended for personal use and not enterprise distribution.  Adobe does offer the full installers, either as EXE or MSI files, for enterprise distribution.  Enterprise distribution does require a distribution license, which is free for the vast majority of use casese. See Adobe Flash Player Distribution | Adobe  for more information and to apply for a distribution license.  The Flash Player Administrator's Guide also contains useful information for enterprise customers deploying Flash Player within their organization.

    2. Is the user an Admin user or Standard user?

    3. As with Microsoft, Google embeds Flash Player in Chrome and all updates are released by Google.  Are you noticing that the plugin is not updating?  We have received numerous reports on this and have reported to Google.  See 656058 -  Flash system install doesn't take precedence over Component Flash install in Chrome. -  chromium -  Monorail  for more information.
    4. Are you referring to Flash Player ActiveX for IE or NPAPI (for Firefox) / NPPAPI (for Opera and Chromium-based browsers)?  If ActiveX, then the update would need to come from Microsoft (Microsoft Security Bulletin MS16-128 - Critical ).  If NPAPI/PPAPI you would use the EXE or MSI installer file that you'd have access to after apply for, and receiving, the distribution license.

    Maria,

I’m not quite sure how to follow the answers for Chrome.

We’re having issues with getting the Plugins for Flash to update using Chrome – the browser is not recognizing it being installed.

What happens when you try to view Flash content in Chrome?  Is Flash Player enabled?
