Adobe Flash Player: Can't install, can't uninstall

The title says it all. I keep being prompted to "Update Adobe Flash Player right now". However, when I use the download links provided, I end up getting the message, "An  error has occurred...." Then, when I try to clean the slate by uninstalling the versions already in my computer, I get the same message: "An error has occurred...."

One thing I've learned is that Adobe's support service is a waste of time, for me, at any rate. This forum is my only hope, because I am unwilling to waste more hours going in circles trying to follow the "help" Adobe provides. Oh, one last thing. Here is the core of the error message I get.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ffmpeg: av_find_stream_info failed

ps: cannot peek

main: no suitable demux module for `/:///Users/warrenjones/Downloads/install_flash_player_osx_ub-11.dmg'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does that clarify things?

This looks like Mac OS; unfortunately there are not many Mac regulars here in the forum.

All I can recommend is to try the uninstaller from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Thanks, but I finally did what I should have done in the beginning, but didn't, simply because the obvious hadn't occurred to me. All that I had to do was drag and trash everything having to do with Adobe Flash Player. After I did that, the download off the latest Flash version went smoothly. Sometimes we make things too difficult by overlooking the simplest solution.. Anyway, thanks again.
