Adobe Flash Problem

I know that most people will say to look at the help page and the problem will probably be solved, but I've read the help page and my problem isn't on it. My adobe flash player suddenly stopped working.

When I tried to re-install it, it seemed to run smoothly so I thought that it wasn't going to be a problem. After it installed, it said there was an error and that if I wanted to try again I needed to close all internet pages and windows messenger.

The thing is I don't even have messenger up. It refuses to install, and I already control panneled to see if it was somehow hidden. I don't even have it downloaded. How am I able to get around it?  A little help?

Since you mention Windows Messenger, we can assume that you use Windows.  What version, and what web browser, by the way?

Open the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del), then click on the processes tab.  Can you see any processes that are named 'msmsgr.exe' or 'msmsgs.exe', 'iexplore.exe', and whatever other web browser you use?
