Question

Adobe Flash update Kills "PhotoShop Elements"

When I install the latest Adobe Flash (which I'm asked to do daily!), I have a problem with PhotoShop Elements. When you go to put text into a screen, the text does not show until you are finished and click out of adding the text. I can uninstall the Adobe Flash update and Elements works again with a restart of the computer.

I've done this twice, and it happened BOTH times .. and I recovered both times by uninstalling the Adobe Flash Player.

    Hi,

If you're being prompted to update Flash Player daily it's because there's an older version of Flash on your system.  Please provide a screenshot of the Flash Player Settings Manager > Updates tab:

    • Mac:  System Preferences > Flash Player > Updates tab
    • Windows:  Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Flash Player > Updates tab

I'm not aware of Flash Player affecting Elements in the manner you describe.  Please provide the following information:

    • Operating System, including version
    • Flash Player version installed
    • Is this Flash Player for IE, Firefox, Chrome/Opera?  Each of these uses a different type of plugin, so knowing which one it is is important to troubleshoot the behaviour.
    • Which version of Photoshop Elements

Not sure versions, but you'll probably know.

Now installed: Adobe Flash Player 24 NPAPI

    Downloaded: flashplayer25ppau_d_install.exe

    Windows 10

    Chrome

    PhotoShop Elements 14

Again ... when in Elements 14, when I'm adding text to a picture ... the text does not show as I am typing until I am finished and back out of entering text ... then it displays.  I uninstall the "25" that I installed and the problem goes away.

32- or 64-bit?  To check go to Settings > System > About > System type

Do you use Opera, or a different Chromium-based browser beside Chrome?  If not, unless you're experiencing issues with the embedded Flash Player in Chrome you shouldn't need to install the separate PPAPI Plugin.
