adobe install problems

Hi,

please help. i tried to update abobe last night but couldnt. i then deleted adobe version 5 from my computer and attempted a new download. the installer file saved to downloads but is completely unresponsive. I have tried all the suggesting fixes including the service pack update. I am using windows vista 32 bit. many thanks.
